Terms and conditions

These terms explain the Rules for You service, the one-off complimentary refusal review, your responsibilities, the limits of the research and the rights that remain available to consumers.

Updated 2 September 2026 · Version 2

These terms are between you and Ed in Park City, LLC, a Utah limited liability company and the operator of Rules for You. They apply to the website, public planning-research databases, accounts, private workspaces and refusal reviews.

If you use Rules for You for personal purposes, you are a consumer. If you use it mainly for a trade, business, craft or profession, you are a business user. Mandatory rights that apply where you live are not excluded by these terms.

Who we are and how to contact us

“Rules for You”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Ed in Park City, LLC.

Legal entity
Ed in Park City, LLC, a limited liability company organised in Utah, United States.

What Rules for You provides

The current service can include:

  • free public access to selected planning appeal, local planning authority and privacy-preserving Inspector records for England;
  • search of source-located passages from official appeal decisions;
  • a private, multi-member Rules for You workspace;
  • a complimentary (£0) automated review of one refusal notice or officer report and a search for similar appeal evidence, with no card details or payment required.

Features may be unavailable while they are being tested or when a required provider is unavailable. A description on an information page is not an accepted order. An order is accepted only when the order process identifies the service, the £0 total and material terms and we send confirmation on a durable medium such as email.

Appeal-document preparation and any dismissed-appeal refund promotion do not form part of these terms.

Accounts and workspaces

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract to place a complimentary order. You must provide accurate account information, keep access credentials secure and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised use.

A workspace can have owners and members. Owners manage membership, invitations and access; members can use the workspace research. You must not try to access another person’s workspace, bypass an authorisation check or share a private result outside the authority you hold.

Workspace email

Rules for You may allocate a permanent incoming email address to a workspace. An allocated address is part of the service, not your property: it cannot be renamed, transferred to another workspace, deleted for reuse or exchanged for a requested local part. A workspace may hold more than one address, but the current service does not provide address-management controls.

Every current owner and member of the recipient workspace can read its inbox and can see whether other current members have opened the latest message in a thread. Owners can move a thread to Trash or restore it; a new non-spam reply restores an unpurged thread, and trashed content is deleted after 30 days. Inbox and Spam messages do not otherwise have an automatic expiry, subject to our legal obligations and the privacy notice.

The inbox receives mail only. It does not compose, reply to or forward messages. Attachment bytes and filenames are not retained, HTML is filtered and remote images are blocked. Delivery, threading and spam classification can be incomplete or delayed, so do not use a workspace address as the sole route for an emergency, a statutory deadline or preserving an original document. Use only a verified contact route shown on the contact page for a notice to Rules for You.

A verified user can request a machine-readable account archive from their account page. We send a 30-minute, one-use email link that can be used only by the same signed-in account, then generate and stream the ZIP without retaining an export file. The archive covers records attributed directly to that user under the privacy notice. Workspace ownership does not include other members' private content, and paying for another person's review does not include that review in the payer's archive.

Free public research

Public records are provided to help you find, compare and verify official planning evidence. Coverage can be incomplete, delayed or affected by source changes. A search result is a match produced by the stated method, not a complete list of relevant law, policy or decisions. Always open the available official source and check its date, facts and status.

Planning systems differ across the United Kingdom. Rules for You’s public planning content is for England unless a page expressly says otherwise.

The complimentary refusal review

The complimentary service reviews one submitted refusal notice or officer report, identifies the disputed points and searches for potentially relevant official appeal passages. The consumer total is £0. It is not a subscription and no card details are requested. The refusal-review page shows current availability and the route for placing a complimentary order.

  • The submitted source becomes immutable for that review. Reviewing a materially different source creates a new order.
  • Reopening the completed review, changing its supported location filters and saving appeals do not create another order or charge.
  • A completed review may find no sufficiently useful matches. That is a valid completed result.
  • The complimentary order does not create a payment authorisation or charge.
  • If a technical failure prevents a usable result, no payment or refund is involved.

The review is automated. It is not an expert review, legal opinion, planning advice or forecast of an appeal outcome.

Price and confirmation

The current refusal-review total is £0. Before an order, the order process must show what is included, when work starts and that no charge is due. Rules for You does not offer a subscription or recurring renewal.

Complimentary orders do not use Stripe and do not ask for card details. They create no payment authorisation, capture or refund. A paid offer would have its own price, payment information and applicable terms.

UK consumer cancellation rights

If you are a UK consumer who orders online, you will normally have 14 days from contract formation to cancel a service contract. Before we start work during that period, the order process must ask for your express request to begin. If you cancel after requested work has started, no charge is due for the current complimentary service.

A cancellation right is lost after a service is fully performed during the cancellation period only if performance began at your express request and you acknowledged that consequence. For qualifying digital content supplied immediately, the required express consent and acknowledgement must be obtained before supply. These acknowledgements cannot be hidden in these general terms or inferred from continued use.

Nothing in this section limits a statutory remedy for a service that is not supplied with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time or as agreed. See the cancellation page and model form.

Your material and instructions

You retain rights in material you submit. You give us and the providers used to deliver the service a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, analyse, transform and transmit that material only as needed to provide, secure and support the requested service and comply with law. This licence ends when the material is deleted, except for protected backups, transaction records and legal claims that must be retained.

You confirm that you have authority to provide the material and instructions. Do not submit information that is unlawful, malicious, irrelevant to the planning task or subject to confidentiality you are not entitled to disclose. Remove unnecessary personal and sensitive information about other people.

Our material and official sources

The Rules for You brand, site software, original design and original explanatory material belong to Ed in Park City, LLC or its licensors. You may use the service for your own lawful research and planning work. You may not copy the service at scale, resell access, remove notices or use automated extraction in a way that disrupts the service or breaches source rights.

Official appeal decisions and public datasets remain the material of their publishers and may be subject to Crown copyright, the Open Government Licence or another stated licence. We do not claim ownership of official source documents. Follow the licence and attribution shown by the source.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the service unlawfully or to harm another person;
  • probe, overload, interfere with or bypass security, access controls, rate limits or payment controls;
  • upload malware, issue automated bulk requests without permission or attempt to extract private workspace data;
  • impersonate another person, misrepresent authority or submit material you have no right to use;
  • present a Rules for You search result as official advice, a precedent controlling another case or a guaranteed outcome; or
  • use outputs to train, benchmark or build a competing dataset or model where doing so breaches law, source terms or our rights.

No planning or legal advice

Rules for You makes evidence easier to find, understand and test. It is not a local planning authority, the Planning Inspectorate, a law firm or a substitute for advice from a suitably qualified professional. Every application and appeal depends on its own proposal, site, policy context, evidence and procedure.

Similar wording or an allowed appeal does not establish that another appeal will be allowed. We do not choose appeal over amendment or resubmission, calculate prospects of success or monitor a statutory deadline unless a written service order expressly says so.

Availability, changes and suspension

We may maintain, repair, secure or change the service. We will not use a general change clause to remove a material feature from an already accepted order without a lawful reason and an appropriate remedy. We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to address security, misuse, legal obligations, taking account of the seriousness and giving notice where practicable.

You may stop using the public service at any time and may sign out of an account. Downloading an account archive does not delete information, close an account or workspace, cancel a review, or require provider and backup copies to be erased. Account deletion, workspace closure, provider-copy retention and backup expiry are separate processes. Use the privacy route for a rights request; these terms do not promise a self-service deletion or workspace-closure process. Ending an account does not erase records that must lawfully be kept.

Responsibility for loss

If you are a consumer

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when the contract was made, or for business loss arising from consumer use. We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or mandatory consumer remedies.

If you are a business user

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss or for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings. No aggregate business-liability cap or indemnity is created unless it is stated expressly in terms accepted for the relevant business order.

Complaints and disputes

Contact us through the contact page. If a monitored address is shown there, we will acknowledge the complaint, investigate it fairly and explain the outcome. Data-protection complaints follow the privacy notice. These terms do not prevent a consumer from using a court or another dispute process available under mandatory law.

Governing law

If you are a UK consumer, these terms are governed by the law of the part of the United Kingdom where you live, and you may bring proceedings in its courts. If you live elsewhere, you retain any mandatory protection and access to courts that your local law does not allow a contract to exclude. These terms do not require a consumer to use Utah courts exclusively.

If you are a business user, these terms and non-contractual disputes are governed by Utah law, and the state and federal courts in Utah have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the accepted business order states otherwise.

General terms

We may transfer our rights and obligations as part of a sale, reorganisation or service-provider change if this does not reduce a consumer’s rights. You may transfer an order only with our agreement or where law gives you that right. No person other than you and Ed in Park City, LLC has a right to enforce these terms unless the law or an accepted order says otherwise.

If a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. Headings help navigation and do not change meaning.

We may update these terms for future use. The terms accepted with an order continue to govern that order unless a lawful agreed variation applies. A material account change will be notified in a durable form where required.
